JOURNEY
JOURNEY
The AjA Project hosts Journey as part of their Find Your Voice Program whose mission is to help participants turn the lens inward and utilize photography as a tool for self-reflection and identity formation. It is a after school program that works to meet the needs of the migrant community of San Diego. In 2017, we partnered with Cajon Valley Middle School and Emerald Middle school to work with recent refugees from Syria and Iraq.
OLD HOME
The first portion of the classes focus on images that remind them of their old home. Through this process we were able to help students explore their experience of moving to the United States and the move from their native land.
NEW HOME
The second section of the classes embodies their understanding of their new home in San Diego.
WHO AM I
We close the class with images that help students identify who they are through their experience of examining their old and new home. Our mission is to build healthy skills in self-reflection and communication through participatory photography practice.
